Today’s Wordle #870 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, November 6th

Well shoot, it’s Monday all over again. I feel like I’m living in a bizarre time-loop. The more things change, the more they stay the same. We’re also at Wordle #870, which is kind of crazy. We’ll be at Wordle #900 before Christmas!

I’m also suffering from a recent onset of bad neck pain, so I’m a little less eloquent than my usual self. We’ll skip the preamble and head right to the main course.

It’s Wordle time, baby!

How To Solve Today’s Word

The Hint: Barter.

The Clue: This word ends with a vowel.

See yesterday’s Wordle #869 right here.

Wordle Bot Analysis

After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.

This is basically a repeat of my guessing game yesterday, though my opening guess was much closer yesterday than today.

Can you solve today’s phrase?

Still, spite left me with just 17 remaining options and a yellow and green box. I tried to eliminate all the other vowels with about but Wordle Bot told me after the fact that hoard would have been more efficient. Fair enough, but I still got in on guess #3 with trade, which was lucky since there were four words left to choose from.

Today’s Score

Alas, my score is not nearly as lovely as yesterday’s. Despite getting 1 point for guessing in three, I lose that point immediately because the Bot got it in just two! Not cool!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “trade” comes from the Old Saxon word “trada,” which means “track” or “trail.” It evolved through Middle Low German “trade” meaning “path” or “course,” to Middle English “trade” meaning “track” or “pathway,” and then to “course of conduct” or “means of livelihood.” The sense of buying and selling goods and services came later, influenced by the notion of a path or journey along which goods were transported for exchange. The word reflects the early connection between movement, transportation, and the exchange of goods.

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

Here are the rules:

  • 1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating me
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to me

You can either keep a running tally of your score if that’s your jam or just play day-to-day if you prefer.
