Does ‘The Flash’ Have A Post-Credits Scene?

The Flash just zoomed into theaters and I saw the movie Thursday afternoon with my kids. We all enjoyed it, though an increasingly common complaint came up for all three of us: It’s just too long. Ezra Miller does a great job and the movie is quite charming, but even as it picks up momentum in the final act it loses steam. This is a problem with so many superhero movies these days, and especially with DC.

More on that in my review which I’ll post here on this blog this weekend.

The question at hand, however, is not whether or not the movie was good, great or mediocre, but whether it has any mid or post-credits scenes. First, the non-spoiler version.

No Spoiler Version

Yes! The Flash has one post-credits scene at the very, very end of the credits. There are no mid-credits scenes. Just one at the very end.

Is It Worth Sticking Around For?

The Flash is 2 hours and 24 minutes long. After it’s over you have to wait several minutes through the credits to watch the post-credits scene. In my personal opinion, it is not worth sticking around for. I’ll explain the scene in the spoilers section below for anyone who decides to bail rather than wait.

The Spoiler Version: What Happens In The Post-Credits Scene

The post-credits scene in The Flash is very peculiar. We see Barry and Arthur Curry—aka Aquaman (Jason Momoa)—leaving a bar. Barry tells Arthur that he can’t get drunk due to his high metabolism from being the fastest man alive. This particular struggle is not one Arthur can relate to, as he is several sheets to the wind at this point.

As they walk, they discuss the conversation they were just having off-screen. Barry mentioned how there are many different versions of Batman and other heroes, but only one version of Aquaman. This is a very obvious clue that Momoa’s Aquaman will stick around for the James Gunn era of the DCU.

Then Aquaman stumbles, drunk as a skunk, and collapses into a puddle, where he asks to remain—comfortable as he is in water. But he gives Barry a priceless Atlantean ring to buy more beer with. It’s a slightly odd, slightly funny scene, but it mostly serves to clue us in to the fact that Momoa is sticking around for more Aquaman and not much else.

“That was it?” a fellow moviegoer asked when it was over, and I shared their confusion. The scene ends somewhat jarringly, as if there was more to it that was later cut.

So that’s that! One post-credits scene, make of it what you will.
