Looking for Monday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

Tuesday, Tuesday. We got a little snow yesterday, but it was just a very small amount. Still, thanks to everyone who prayed for snow! We’ll take what we can get! In any case, it’s another day in paradise and as good a time as any to solve today’s Wordle. Let’s do it!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Something you ask for after a meal.

The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

Okay, spoilers below!

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

PLATE wasn’t very lucky as far as first guesses go, leaving me with 334 possible solutions and just one yellow box. I tried all new letters with COINS, which slashed that number to a still unhelpful 11 and gave me a green ‘C’. From here, I tried CHEER but to no avail. Two words remained. Fortunately, I guessed correctly. CHECK for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

A total wash today. 4 gets me zero points as does tying the Bot. Big fat zero!

March Running Total: 6 points.

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “check” originates from the Persian word shāh (شاه), meaning “king,” which entered medieval Latin as scaccus through Arabic (shāh māt, “the king is dead” – the origin of “checkmate” in chess). It then passed into Old French as eschec, meaning “chess, a check, or a stop,” before entering Middle English as “check.” Over time, it expanded in meaning to include verification, control, and halting actions.

The use of “check” as a written payment order comes from the same Old French eschec (derived from chess), meaning “a check, a stop, or a control.” The financial sense developed in the 18th century from the idea of a document that acts as a control or verification on funds. It is related to the use of “check” in accounting, where balances are examined or “checked” for accuracy.
