Looking for Tuesday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

We’re back to yet another edition of Wordle Wednesday, the day when we supplement our Wordle with an extra super special riddle, brain-teaser or logic puzzle. Here’s today’s:

Four friends—Owl, Robot, Sneaky Bobby, and Tomcat—are playing a board game that involves rolling a six-sided die and moving that many spaces forward. The game has the following conditions:

  1. Each player rolls the die once per turn and moves forward exactly that number of spaces.
  2. There are no extra turns, backward movements, or skipping turns in this game.
  3. After four rounds, Owl and Robot are tied on the same space.
  4. Sneaky Bobby is exactly 2 spaces ahead of them.
  5. Tomcat is exactly 2 spaces behind them.
  6. The total of all dice rolls at this point is 52.

What spaces does each player occupy?

If you know the answer, shoot me a DM on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook. I’ll post the answer in tomorrow’s guide. Now let’s solve this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Grammy, Oscar etc.

The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

Okay, spoilers below!

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Another lucky day for yours truly, especially after my bad second guess. My opener, STARE, was quite good, leaving me with just 17 remaining solutions. I very accidentally used ‘R’ a second time in CHOIR (doh!) which I immediately regretted. With 7 more words to pick from, and no new boxes, I needed some amazing luck. Thankfully, AWARD was amazingly lucky! Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 more for beating the Bot. 2 points for me! Silly Bot, Wordles are for kids!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “award” originates from the Old French “ewarder” (later “awarder”), which meant “to assign, grant, or judge”. This, in turn, comes from the Old North French “warder”, meaning “to guard, watch, or decide” (related to the modern English “ward”). The term was influenced by legal contexts in Middle English, where “award” referred to a decision or judgment made by an authority. Over time, its meaning expanded to include prizes or honors given as recognition.
